What is an architectural bubble diagram?
A bubble diagram represents the spaces of a building as circles sized by area, connected by lines that show which spaces need to be near each other. It comes before plans, to test the organisation of a program.
How do I start?
Open the editor and pick a ready-made brief (house, primary school, library or café), or start blank. Add spaces by double-tapping the paper, with the + Space button, or by pasting rows from Excel or Google Sheets into the Program table.
How do I connect spaces?
Choose the Connect tool and drag from one space to another, or paint relationships into the Matrix tab. Both edit the same data, so the diagram and the matrix always agree.
Can I use my own relationship types?
Yes. In the Key tab you can rename the default types (required, preferred, avoid) and add new ones, such as visual link or acoustic separation. Each type has its own name, matrix symbol, line and arrange behaviour, and the legend on your exports uses your names.
What does Arrange do?
It runs a layout that pulls related spaces together, pushes conflicting ones apart and groups spaces by zone, then animates them into place. It is a single step you can undo. Turn on Live to re-settle after every move.
How do I export for a presentation?
Use Export to print an A3 board (diagram, adjacency matrix, schedule and title block) to PDF, or download it as PNG or SVG. You can also export the diagram on its own. SVG files open in Illustrator, InDesign and Figma with fonts included.
Does it work on an iPad?
Yes. The editor is built for touch: drag to connect, pinch to zoom, double-tap to add a space.
Where is my work saved?
In your browser, automatically. Nothing is uploaded. To move between devices or submit your work, use Project → Save project file and open it elsewhere.
